Change Management.
Implement controlled change management processes.
Change management provides controlled, auditable process for infrastructure and configuration changes. This reduces risk and enables accountability.
Standard change process: request (what and why), review (technical and risk assessment), approval (appropriate authority level), implementation (following approved plan), and validation (verify change worked).
Emergency change process: abbreviated for urgent issues, but still documented. Post-incident review captures learnings and validates emergency was justified.
CHANGE REQUEST
Document proposed change: what, why, how, risk assessment, rollback plan.
TECHNICAL REVIEW
Engineering review of implementation plan. Identify risks and dependencies.
APPROVAL
Appropriate authority approves based on risk. Higher risk requires higher approval.
VALIDATION
Post-change verification. Confirm change achieved objectives without side effects.
